The famous Kengis Bruk beat is located on the Torne river. A classic salmon fishing beat that annually delivers great catch results throughout the short but intense season, it opens for fishing on the 2nd full week of June and closes August 31st. There are fresh fish running all season.
Kengis Bruk offers fantastic salmon fishing on 2.5km of private water, with three zones and seven pools to explore, for only 6-8 rods per week.
The Kengis rapids are some of the largest in the river system, which drops a full 20 meters over the course of a 600 meter run. Both at the top and bottom of the rapids are well known places for big salmon to hold up and rest before continuing their journey upstream.
The Torne river’s average weight for fly caught Salmon is 15-18lbs, while many fish 20lbs + are common and fish running into the 30 – 40lbs class are caught every year. In 2015, local angler Kristian Stridsman landed a monster fish of 43.7lbs after a short but intense 15-minute battle in the boat pool below the rapids.
June offers the best chance of a big fresh fish but the peak main runs are usually in early-mid July. Many fish arrive and occupy pools until season close offering a chance at a fish of a lifetime at any moment, as the larger early run fish change to their spectacular full spawning colours and become aggressive towards intruders.

As Kengis Bruk Lodge is designed as a self-catering lodge it does not facilitate any guides. The lodge manager is a well accomplished guide and will spend time with you on the river, showing you the beats and the hot spots.
Typically you will fish in pairs through the week without a guide. However, if you would like guides we can organise this at an extra cost.
Kengis Bruk lodge is a large building set on the side of the Torne river.
The lodge is purpose built for salmon anglers with three twin rooms, each with en-suite. There is also a large dining area and living room to relax in after a long day out on the water.
Comfortable and spacious – Kengus Bruk is perfectly designed for your every need while on a fishing trip.
Thanks to its proximity to the Torne, will also have the option of choosing your own fishing hours to allow for maximum time on the river.
Food & Cuisine
Kengis Bruk lodge is designed as a self catering lodge with all the cooking facilities and equipment you could possibly need. We recommend hiring a car on arrival at the airport and stopping at the local grocery store on route to the lodge. Here you will be able to do a week’s worth of shopping ready to cook your own meals.
We also recommend having breakfast and dinner at the lodge, but taking a packed lunch to the river is perfect for maximising your time on the water. If you would like catering to be done for you we can organise a chef at an extra cost.
