Call to Action: Scottish Aquaculture Review

The Scottish Parliament is once again examining the impacts of salmon farming on Scotland’s seas and rivers. Multiple inquiries and independent submissions have highlighted serious concerns about the effects of open-pen aquaculture on wild Atlantic salmon – a species now officially red-listed and under increasing pressure.

This is an important opportunity to encourage policymakers to adopt a genuinely precautionary approach. We’ve drafted an email that sets out the key issues and asks the Rural Affairs and Islands Committee to consider stronger safeguards.
