Rafael Gonzalez ‘Rafaspey’ is the founder of the first fly fishing lodge in Rio Grande, Tierra del Fuego in Chile. Rafael is the owner of Fly Fishing Magallanes Ltd and has specialised in fly fishing trips for over 20 years in the Chilean/Argentinean Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego regions. He is also the Fishing Program Manager for Lakutaia Lodge. Located in Chile’s Austral Zone, Lakutaia Lodge operates the only helicopter fly fishing program in the region for the southern-most trout fishing in the world. His interests include a love of helicopters, fly fishing, and environmental conservation.

Ivan was born in the beautiful mountains of Switzerland. If he is not somewhere fishing, he is working in a well-known ski resort in Switzerland, where he is heavily involved in freestyle snowboarding and skiing and has more then 20 years of experience in winter tourism. During the winter, when time permits he loves to tie hiss own flies for the upcoming season. Ivan's big passion is dry fly fishing for brown trout, which he enjoys very much in different countries. Jonke studied “media and photography” in 2001, this made him move down to Blekinge to the very south of Sweden and the county of the famous river Mörrum. In 2005 he cofounded the Fly Fishing Film Tour, which helped inspire a new movement of independent filmmakers in the sport of fly fishing. A few years later Brian Jill and Chris established another independent film company called MOTIV Fishing. With MOTIV came the Geofish Series, which followed four anglers on a vegetable oil powered fly fishing expedition from the Pacific Northwest to the bottom of South America. Chris also helped produce the YouTube series Geobass, which followed the exploits of four anglers on mission to catch world’s greatest bass species. In 2016 Animal Planet premiered Fish or Die, another fly fishing adventure series that is currently in the works.

Fredrik loves fishing for Pike and Sea-Run Trout, but the dry fly-season for Brownies up in Northern Sweden is something really special to him. Fredrik says that the Opti Coast together with Opti Speedrunner really gives him all he needs in the hunt for Sea Run Browns in the archipelago. On receiving the Evotec Cast Medium it was Love at first sight. Pure beauty both for the eyes and for the loops.

Brian connected with Loop early on as one of the founders of the Angling Exploration Group and he has helped to pave a way for a new adventure style of Fly Fishing videos. His current production company, MOTIV FISHING, has continued to this connection in the pursuit of exploration and discovery into new waters. He has worked on multiple fly fishing productions that have taken him to remote locations around the globe, including Central/South America, Iceland, Greenland, New Zealand, Mongolia, Papua New Guinea, South Pacific islands, and Australia.
 
Brian attended Colorado State and graduated with a degree in Anthropology. After five years of mountain life he decided to return to his saltwater roots in Florida and continue his fly fishing lifestyle. He has extensively fished the inshore waters of the Florida gulf coast and as a USCG licensed fishing captain he operates fly fishing charters in the Tampa Bay area with his company, Lost Coast Anglers. His favourite species to pursue are big migratory Tarpon.

Stuart started fishing at the age of 4 and began tying flies a short time later by using cotton out of his mom’s sewing kit and feathers out of his pillow and has developed into a very talented fly dresser and has both tied flies and fly fished for over 35 years. During that time he has gained wide experience fishing the various waters of Scotland and Wales chasing trout and salmon fishing most of the rivers in Scotland and the rest of the UK and has travelled as far as Norway, Alaska, Argentina and over the last few years he has extensively fished the North West Pacific with a total Steelhead obsession taking him to the wilds of British Columbia as often as possible. He currently designs flies commercially for a couple of fly companies as well as writing articles for magazines and tying flies for illustration purposes for a couple of books on modern salmon patterns, but lately his main focus is to teach easy and effective fly tying to both young and old alike. There is no better feeling than catching a fish on a fly that you have tied yourself! Stuart loves his time on the riverbank but when he can’t be fishing he is probably at his vice.

For the past two decades Sonya and I have carried fly rods, and packed camera gear around the globe chasing the adventure. We would often return from fishing double handers for seatrout in Argentina, to chasing tarpon in Florida. After running in to some hardcore Loop anglers on Russia’s Kola Peninsula in 2003, it changed everything from the gear we fished, to the way we fished it. True innovations are rare at best, but the first time we landed a 150 pound tarpon on a 10 weight rod, that weighed as much as our previous 7 weights, was innovation that was easy to get behind. These days we downsize virtually all our tackle, and pack less because the breakage has decreased by 10 fold. Swinging for steelhead with a 6 weight double, and landing them in a fraction of the time is both good for the fish, and our aging bodies. Seems that we are always planning or packing for our next trip, and it’s incredibly nice to be partnered with a company that is owned, managed and run by anglers just as passionate as we are.
