Brian Niska

 

Brian Niska has been flyfishing in fresh and saltwater for twenty one years. Brian has 12 years of guiding experience in a variety of locales including Chile and all over British Columbia, ranging from the Fraser Valley to the Skeena River system in the north.

 

Brian is certified as a Master Flycasting Instructor and Two Handed Casting Instructor with the Federation of Fly Fishers. Brian is currently the most highly certified casting instructor in all of Canada holding the FFF’s top levels of certification in both single hand Masters(MCI) and two handed(THCI) qualifications. He is responsible for the testing and certification of other flycasting instructors as well as serving as an advisor to the FFF Casting Board. His skills as a flycaster and instructor have made him a featured demonstrator at various fishing and outdoor shows throughout western Canada.
Brian has been involved in the fishing industry for 15 years working in retail, as a commercial fly tier, guide and instructor of casting, flyfishing and flytying courses.

A strong advocate of habitat restoration to preserve wild fish stocks, Brian is dedicated to the preservation of wild fish the pristine waters essential to their survival. He has served as a director of the Steelhead Society of British Columbia, is active in the Whistler Angling Club and is a past member of the Osprey Flyfishers of British Columbia.

While Brian enjoys all types of flyfishing his specialty is Speyfishing for Steelhead. Brian can be found guiding the wild winter run rivers close to Whistler as well as spending the fall months guiding on the Bulkley river in northern BC.

Brian is especially sought after as an instructor of two handed casting and heads the Whistler Flyfishing School.
